HSINCHU, Taiwan – November 6, 2008 – One of the world’s leading IC design houses, Realtek Semiconductor Corp., today announced that its RTL8366SR Single Chip 5+1-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch Controller has been awarded the ‘EDN China Innovation Award 2008’. 

EDN China is the leading online community and networking site for China’s electronics engineering industry, and was the first magazine to focus on electronics design for China. Products were evaluated and chosen by a panel of EDN China judges, made up of industry experts and specialists from China’s top companies, academic institutes, universities, and EDN China’s editorial board. Individual readers of EDN China were also invited to vote for their favorite product.

Realtek’s RTL8366SR is currently being used in xDSL, cable modems, wireless routers, and Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) applications. As well as high-performance, the RTL8366SR features Realtek’s innovative Green Ethernet technology, resulting in power savings of 30~50% depending on operating conditions. Green Ethernet power saving technology is applied to all Realtek switch products that feature gigabit Ethernet transceivers.
