Miyoshi Umecki was a recording star in her native Japan before coming to America in 1956. She quickly became an even bigger star on TV ("Courtship of Eddie's Father"), Broadway ("Flower Drum Song") and films, becoming the first Asian to win an Oscar for acting in "Sayonara." Mercury Records quickly signed her to a recording contract and here are her two albums, digitally restored in pristine sound by Jasmine Records. Bonus tracks include rare TV performances with Andy Williams, Dinah Shore and Gisele MacKenzie.
