The R&B contingent is represented by hip numbers from Chuck Willis, Wynonie Harris, Ike Turner, Donnie Elbert, Dinah Washington, and two seductive themes by Ruth Brown. And there are plenty of obscurities to savor, including Eddie Banks‘ Sugar Diabetes, Bill Jailer Man, Merle Kilgore’s Start All Over Again, and the gorgeous Barbara McNair’s He’s A King. Harmonica ace Sonny Boy Williamson (the second one) turns up at the end with his immortal Help Me, which became an instant blues standard.
