Their fans’ obsession with The Beatles is endless, and their earliest heroes and influences have long been endlessly scrutinised. Consequently, there have been any number of “Who did ’em first?”-type compilations over the years, although many of them recycle the same fifty or sixty records. We’ve attempted to throw the net a bit wider, and introduce songs that other compilations may have missed. Among the perhaps familiar, expected names herein are Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Fats Domino, Gene Vincent, Ray Charles, Bill Haley & The Comets, Buddy Holly, etc. Perhaps a little less obvious are artists like Little Willie John, Bill Justis, The Jodimars, Emile Ford, The Drifters, The Johnny Burnette Trio, The Coasters, Billy Lee Riley, etc. This set is complementary to an earlier Jasmine release, “Without The Beatles” (JASCD787).
