A yet unrecorded hidden gem of the late composer’s work “A
Prayer to the Dynamo”,
paired with suites from some of Jóhann’s most successful film
soundtracks.
The idea to A PRAYER TO THE DYNAMO was inspired by the book
"The Education of Henry Adams", from a chapter entitled "The Dynamo
and the Virgin" which describes Adams' experience in the Great Hall of
Generators at the 1900 Paris World's Fair.
Jóhannsson originally intended to create a film alongside the music of A
PRAYER TO THE DYNAMO, that was never finished. He wanted to
see the film to become a meditation on obsolete machines and our
connection to them as well as the admiration for the power of the
machines and the power they unleash.
Both the scores for SICARIO & THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING
earned Jóhann Jóhannsson multiple award nominations including Oscar,
Golden Globes (win for The Theory of Everything), BAFTA,
Critics Choice Awards, Grammy etc.
Both arrangements for the film music suites were arranged by
Jóhann Jóhannsson himself
