This compilation is drawn from Petula Clark EPs issued in France between 1957 and 1962. During this period she turned her back on the UK market and become a confirmed Francophile, marrying French record company executive Claude Wolff, who also became her manager. She recorded extensively en Français, very often cutting French language cover versions of British and/or American hits, many of which feature on this set. It includes several of her biggest early pan-European hits, like ‘Prends Mon Coeur’ (‘A Fool Such As I’), ‘Marin’ (‘Sailor’), ‘Romeo’ (‘Salomé’), ‘Ya Ya Twist’, ‘Dans Le Train De Nuit’ and ‘Chariot’. An internationally renowned songstress, actress and composer, Petula has had the longest career of any British entertainer. She is now in her ninth decade in showbiz and although now in her early nineties, still sporadically continues to work.
