Bach’s sublime Goldberg Variations, a monument of the solo keyboard repertoire, were conceived for a harpsichord with two manuals. Now they can be heard on two guitars, transcribed by Thibaut Garcia and Antoine Morinière, who play them on twin instruments – made from wood from the same tree. “The potential of the music is realised through our musical personalities,” says Garcia, “through the freedom we find as two interpreters essentially playing the same guitar.”
