Inside the body, there is a fan with PWM speed control, which is connected to the computer's motherboard with a 4-pin power connector. The fan speed can be automatically controlled by temperature, to save energy or to reduce noise. Copper heatsink with fan together with metal bracket assists in optimal dissipation of heat generated during the M.2 SSD operation. It also reduces the drive temperature by up to 30°C. This prolongs the M.2 SSD life and prevents disk slow down, so-called "Thermal Throttling".
