The formation of Ukrainian national dress is associated with the Hetmanate era. The entire history of Ukrainian clothing demonstrates deep, millennia-old ethnic roots in its form and sacred symbolism, encoded in decorative techniques preserved to this day in folk dress, embroidery, weaving, and jewellery.

Ukrainian civilisation is the only one in Europe that has preserved its ancient history and traditions to the present day.
